Fire Rescue
The Fire Department is staffed by paid on call State Certified Firefighter/Rescue personnel. The Department has state of the art equipment to serve the citizens of Washington, Pleasantview, and Central Fire Protection Districts.

The Washington Fire Department is rated a Class 5 by the Insurance Office of Illinois.

Emergency Medical Services
Advance Life Support is provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week by a staff of full time Paramedics. Two Paramedic level ambulances are available to serve the citizens of the Washington area.

All Personnel are trained as either Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technicians. (E.M.T.)

Emergency transports are provided to the following hospitals:

• Pekin Hospital

Employment Opportunities - Membership Campaign
The Washington Fire Department is currently seeking applicants for the position of paid on call firefighter and paid on call emergency medical service personnel.  The requirements are as follows:

• Applicant must be 21 years of age at time of interview
• Live within the Fire Department jurisdiction area
• Be in good physical condition (medical physical will be given)
• Obtain or possess Illinois Class B drivers license
• Attend required training/meeting sessions
• Pass complete background history check
• Abide by rules and policies of the Fire Department
• Achieve within a reasonable time period the certification of State of Illinois Fire Marshal Firefighter II or State of Illinois Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Training is provided at no cost to members.  Probationary period contingent upon completion of either certification.  Training compensation considered pay scale dependent upon certifications.
